Happy Halloween

Since the 5th Monday fell on Halloween this year we had a FHE Halloween Party.  The theme was "come as a famous person/couple".  Here's Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.
Princess Leia, Han Solo, Jedi Knights and Yoda!
Tinkerbell, Captain Hook and Peter Pan.
Charlie Brown and Lucy.
Ellen Degeneres, Miss Frizzle from the Magic School Bus and Bill Nye the Science Guy.
A good Witch.
Roxanne and David came after I'd taken pictures and I didn't get them together.  They were characters from the Pickles comic strip.  I'm going to have to read it now to find out who they are!
The boys had fun loading the rubber band guns and shooting targets.
Family, Food and Fun!  A great way to spend Halloween!

Desserts

Dad volunteered to make the desserts for the YSA Stake General Women's meeting broadcast luncheon. He made most of it at the bakery, but we still made these at home. Luckily, one of the peach cakes were left over and we had it for Sunday dinner today. There was also a little of the apple pie left and I was able to make a very small brownie torte to keep at home, with the scraps from cutting the brownie out of a square pan.

Our Stake served a salad bar luncheon with an itty bitty brownie from Lee's bakery :).

Spanish Lesson Fun

I've enjoyed my Rosetta Stone Spanish course for a few years now.  Every once in a while the exercises make me smile. This is from today's lesson.

(It was wrong to forget my wife's birthday).  Boy, is he in trouble.
(You can't watch TV, unless you eat your vegetables).  Poor kid, I know just how he feels :)
(I will need to call a plumber to help me solve this problem).  He's going to need more than a plumber!
It's nice they have a sense of humor when writing the lessons :)

End of the Summer FHE

We went to the YSA FHE water slide activity.  I was going to post pictures, but you can see them on Salisbury Blueprints :)

(It was a BIG slide)

Water Fun Day

Boys and water go together on a hot day :)

County Fair

We went to the County Fair.  All the boys loved the tractors and big boy toys!

Such fun!

Family Vacation

We had a fun time being together as a family this summer.  The kids loved playing at the beach.

Blog Hijack (by Felicia)

Since I started calling home less, I won a free subscription to Mom's sometimes daily email updates.  This morning (in her email) she asked if someone would fix her blog so she can make her pictures big.

I think it's working, Mom.  Love you!

Carolyn and I went to visit Mom and Dad, and Hollie and Errol at their new home.

We rode bikes around the neighborhood.... (mom let me use her bike :)

went shopping, out to lunch and stayed up watching movies.

(I took this one with my cell phone---sorry it's so blurry!)

I'm Home!

I spent a week with Felicia's family, helping out while she was recovering from gallbladder surgery. Dad was home alone-----let's just say I'm grateful Grandma and Melece fed him :)

The day of the surgery happened to be the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby, and I had to take the boys. I even put graphite on the wheels of the cars and Brayden won 1st place in his Webelos division!

Falcon Friday---- (the school mascot)

The boys were so handsome Sunday morning, I just had to take a picture!

Sounds of Zion

Us---August 2010
Last night we went to a Sounds of Zion reunion. It's been 34 years since we went to Europe for 6 weeks on tour. We forgot to take the camera and all our pictures of the tour are in the milk barn (I think). We have a box of souvenirs with a few pictures in it, and I found these:
Us---July 1977
On this picture was written: "Floyd and Veda, Gretna Scotland. Stopped for lunch and got these hats at a gift shop".
EVERYWHERE we stopped there was a line for the ladies room, because we had 2 buses full of people. The girl in the blue in the middle, Wendy, and Carol on the far right, were at the reunion last night. It was so fun to talk to them.

As you can imagine, as in most reunions, all the men were old, grey, and "heavier". The women all had dyed hair, make up to cover the aging, and tried to wear something flattering. I got quite a few comments such as, "You haven't changed at all!" Made my day :).

Sewing Skirts

The Mia Maid class made skirts for a recent activity. I offered to help and had them come to my house to do the sewing. It was easier than hauling everything to the church.

Only half the girls could come----good thing----it took all of us leaders to help one on one. We're going to do it again this week to finish up and get the rest of the girls started.
