Cardboard Boats

For the Single's ward FHE tonight, they made boats out of cardboard and duct tape at the Newton Dam. There were 3 teams each making a boat for one of the Bishopric to float in.
Bro. McKendrick is a crack-up :)
Floyd told me anything goes and cheating was encouraged. He wanted me to get some pool noodles to make sure his boat didn't sink, but it was too far past the summer clearance and I couldn't find any. I got 4 balls instead and told him to put them in plastic bags and duct tape them on.
Racing out to the middle of the lagoon.
Bishop Griffin's boat. They brought shrink wrap and lined the bottom of the boat with plastic.
Four of the guys had previously made a double wide boat. They launched at the same time and tried to sink the other three. They loaded huge rocks for bombs. Notice the shovels for oars :)

They sunk the Bishop first.
Then they got Bro. McKendrick. (Love that snow shovel :)
Bro. McKendrick wasn't going down without a fight. He tried to tip the boys over. The Bishop joined in and there was a bit of a water fight. Meanwhile, Floyd was paddling as fast as he could to shore :)
He made it with out getting wet at all or taking on any water. Hurray! The balls worked!

Wrecked

Floyd called me to come get him in Smithfield this afternoon. He'd been rear-ended then pushed into the car in front of him that was stopped to make a left turn. So, he got sandwiched between the car in front and the truck that hit him. By the time I got there, his car was being towed away. The back windshield shattered, but the air bags didn't go off. He was OK, but 2 teenagers in the front car were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

(Of course I forgot the camera and had to take this on my cell phone. Tyler helped get this and Josh's pictures on my computer tonight so I could blog them).

Fun Park

The Lee's summer party was at the Fun Park again this year. We took Josh with us and he LOVED this caged jungle gym. He wants to go back for his birthday party in December :)
Josh is in the center of this picture. You can just see his arms----can you find him?

Roofing Project

Grandma's roof needed re-shingling, so they've spent the last few weeks on the project. Here's Dad, scraping off the old shingles.
Tyler helping. He'd just got home from moving pipe on the church farm.

I forgot to take "in progress" pictures. Here, they're almost done.
They used the tractor to get the shingles up on the roof and to throw the old ones into the bucket.
Tyler putting the last row of shingles on top. Yeah!
