Back Porch Progress Report

The whole west wall will be 5 windows, with sliding doors on the north and south. Dad and Tyler took off the siding ceiling today.

Fun Day!

Yesterday, we went to Carolyn's for Tosha's bridal shower. We had a nice visit and it was fun to see everyone!

Cub Scout Pinewood Derby

Char and I went to visit Felicia and family last week. We got to attend Brayden's Cub Scout Pinewood Derby at the church :)

Felicia was in charge of activities for the kids during the races. Sam loved the "tractor painting".

Scary Situation

Yesterday, Dad and Tyler started knocking the bricks off the porch posts to get ready for Brent (the builder :) to frame in the porch this week. We knew something was wrong----notice the top layer of stucco at an angle----but we didn't know the extent of the problem.

It was supposed to look like this. (The curved thing is the rain gutter spout thingy:)

The inside wood post, holding up the entire roof was completely rotted. It actually fell to pieces when they uncovered it.

Tyler measured the other side post and found out this one was 4 inches lower. He cut a 2X4 the length it was supposed to be, then they jacked up the roof and got the 2X4 under it. The whole roof and siding creaked while jacking it up.

The 2X4 is all that's holding up the roof until Brent comes this week to fix it.

I don't think it would have held another year. I have visions of the whole thing crashing down in a snow storm :)

Kitchen Bar Remodel

Pieces of the new kitchen bar.

Taking apart the old cabinets. Josh was right in there with the "big boys" :)

He helped unscrew the old drawer slides and did a good job.
Josh looks like a "pro" with his tool belt and crack :)
The new oven/stove top and counter. Tyler made new drawer boxes for the lower cabinets, but they aren't installed yet. He still has to put in new slides for the top drawers.
I love the new shape! There's actually room for one more bar stool if we ever find one to match.

Four Generations

Livi's blessing day was a month ago, but I just got this picture from dad and wanted to share :)grandparents, parents, baby Livi, and great-grandparents!
